The University of Debrecen is a sound institution, specialising in the medical sciences. It has a high standard and
students are expected to work hard to pass each subject in order to continue to the next semester. All the
professors speak good English and many speak other European languages too. The education system is attractive
as it allows students to gain bonus percentage throughout the semester which keeps students working hard
throughout the year and alleviates pressure towards the final exams.

The University is constantly involved in new developments which improve the facilities and the opportunities
available to students. Recently a new set of lecture theatres and a library has been built with a new dentistry
building in progress. A large local hospital has been built which carries out transplants and other major surgeries
as well as containing different departments related to the medical field. This development allows students to be at
the forefront of new medical practice.

The University is situated in a large town with a population of 200,000 and hence the night life and environment
is not lively as expected, but with new developments arriving to Debrecen the place is becoming slightly more
socially active. This year we saw the opening of a very large shopping centre with the first ‘Burger King’ and
‘KFC’ in the town. Debrecen, in my opinion, is a perfect ‘Student location’ as there are not so many social
distractions but enough (with the new developments) to create a good balance between University life and social
    life.

It may seem daunting at first when thinking about applying to a University abroad for many reasons but going
through the UK representative, Mr Sandor Bone, was a tremendous help and confidence boost as he is very
helpful and informative on a realistic level about Debrecen and the University which in turn helps many students
to make a decision to study here at the University of Debrecen. Hope to see you there!
